 Jazz Village/harmonia mundi are delighted to announce the signing of jazz singing star and national jazz treasure Ian Shaw

to the label. Ian is recording his 14th studio album, entitled ‘The Theory of Joy’ for release in the autumn of 2015.

Ian and his trio will record new takes on works by Bowie, Joni Mitchell and Michel Legrand alongside originals. Ian’s just returned from his first ever Australian tour and the group play four shows at Ronnie Scott’s this September.

Twice winner of BBC Jazz Awards, Shaw performs constantly at festivals and major art centres, jazz clubs and theatres throughout the UK as a solo artist, with his band or alongside orchestra and big bands. Collaborators over the years include Quincy Jones, Abdullah Ibrahim, Kenny Wheeler, John Taylor, Nigel Kennedy, Iain Ballamy, Cleo Laine, John Dankworth, Cedar Walton, Joe Lovano, Joe Beck, Gregory Porter, Guy Barker and Mark Murphy. Ian opened 2014’s London Jazz Festival, joining Dee Dee Bridgewater, Kurt Elling and Georgie Fame in the vocal jazz summit concert at the Barbican.
